The Kia Concept EV2 turns a small electric SUV into a flexible living space for city life. Recently shown at Milan Design Week 2025, this car brings fresh ideas about what cars can be in busy urban areas.
The car’s designers looked at how city people use their balconies and terraces – small spaces where they can relax despite the noise and crowds. They wanted to bring this feeling inside a compact electric car.
“It’s the smallest in our EV range but the one with the biggest personality,” says Karim Habib, who leads Kia’s global design team.

What makes this car different is how the inside works. The flat floor lets the back seats fold up while the front seats slide way back, creating an open space when you’re not driving. The seats can extend sideways for more comfort, cushions can be removed for use outside, and dividers pop up to organize your things.
Smart features make city life easier. Speakers built into the headrests and removable speakers in the doors let you take your music outside for a picnic. The car can display messages to people walking by, and it works as a power source for your devices through its Vehicle-to-Load feature.

The materials inside the EV2 show Kia’s push toward sustainability. The dashboard uses Simplifyber Fybron™, made from wood, paper, and recycled textiles instead of plastic. Parts of the car contain mushroom-based materials that provide natural insulation. Seat frames use AmpliTex™, a strong material made from flax fibers that weighs less than traditional materials and can be fully recycled.
Kia’s design team tested over 180 samples to get these materials right, making sure they look good, feel nice, and last long enough for real-world use.
When it goes on sale in February 2026, the EV2 will likely cost between €25,000 to €30,000 in Europe, making it one of Kia’s most affordable electric cars. It should drive more than 200 miles on a single charge, with different battery options to fit various budgets.

The car is already being tested on Korean roads. While some of the concept’s flashier features might not make it to production, the basic design and flexible interior are expected to remain.
For urban dwellers and small families, the EV2 shows how a small electric car can do more than just get you from place to place – it can become an extension of your living space, helping you enjoy city life in new ways.
