Stellantis announced a major recall affecting 250,651 vehicles in the United States due to improperly sealed side curtain airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed the recall on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

The affected vehicles include 2022-2025 Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager models. According to NHTSA, the faulty airbags suffer from insufficient pressure retention, which creates a serious safety risk. When an airbag cannot maintain proper pressure, it increases the risk of occupant ejection and injury during a crash.

This is not the first airbag-related issue for these minivan models. Last October, Stellantis recalled a smaller number of 2020-2023 Pacifica and Voyager vehicles due to curtain airbag connectors that weren’t properly secured, which could prevent deployment during an accident.

Vehicle owners should take this recall seriously, as properly functioning side curtain airbags are crucial safety features. These airbags deploy during side impacts and rollovers, creating a protective barrier that keeps passengers inside the vehicle and shields them from impact forces.

Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the side curtain airbags as necessary, free of charge. Stellantis has not yet announced when owner notifications will begin, but concerned owners can contact Stellantis customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for more information.

For anyone unsure if their vehicle is included in this recall, NHTSA provides a free online tool where owners can enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at nhtsa.gov/recalls for checking any active recalls. This latest recall adds to several others issued by Stellantis in recent months, including a brake caliper bolt issue in some 2025 Pacifica Hybrids and a traction control system problem in 2024 models.
