Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be in the city on Wednesday, will launch ‘Mumbai One’, an Integrated Common Mobility App that will allow commuters to plan, book and pay for journeys across 11 public transport operators in the metropolitan region — making it the country’s first platform to unify ticketing and travel information across Metro, monorail, suburban rail and bus services.
The app will integrate the services of Mumbai Metro Lines 1, 2A, 3 and 7, Mumbai Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Suburban Railway, and the bus networks of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Thane Municipal Transport, Mira Bhayander Municipal Transport, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport. It will allow commuters to book tickets on all 11 services through the Mumbai One platform.
The app offers commuters integrated mobile ticketing across multiple transport systems and eliminates the need for physical tickets or queues by enabling cashless digital transactions. It also supports a single dynamic ticket that can be used for multimodal trips involving a mix of Metro, rail or bus services.
In addition to ticketing, the app provides real-time journey updates on delays, alternative routes, and estimated arrival times. Its map-based interface offers details on nearby stations, tourist attractions and points of interest. The app also features an SOS function to ensure commuter safety.
Officials said Mumbai One has been designed to enhance convenience, efficiency and security for passengers while strengthening integration among Mumbai’s public transport networks. By simplifying payments, improving journey planning and reducing waiting times, it aims to transform the way Mumbaikars move across the city.
The launch of Mumbai One coincides with the inauguration of Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ) and the Navi Mumbai International Airport by the Prime Minister on Wednesday afternoon. Phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai airport has been developed under a public-private partnership at a cost of about ₹19,650 crore. Spread across 1,160 hectares, it will work in tandem with the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, eventually handling 90 million passengers annually.
“The Mumbai One app will eliminate the need to queue up at ticketing windows by promoting digital transactions and seamless multimodal connectivity,” said a senior Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) official. “The app will also provide real-time journey updates, alternative routes and estimated arrival times, along with map-based information on nearby stations, tourist attractions as well as an SOS feature to ensure commuter safety,” the official added.
“Commuters will only have to enter the originating and terminating points of their journey, based on which the app will enlist the available modes of transport, points of interchange if any, and the total fare,” said a senior Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) official.
