Kia and LG Electronics have joined forces to create cars that do more than just get you from point A to point B. The two companies recently signed an agreement to develop vehicles that can transform into offices or leisure spaces.

At the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show in South Korea, Kia and LG unveiled two concept models based on Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) technology. These models, called the PV5 Spielraum Studio and the PV5 Spielraum Glow cabin, are designed to serve as mobile workspaces and recreational vehicles.

“By offering mobility space solutions that combine automobiles with home appliances, we aim to lead a transformative shift in customers’ lifestyles,” said Won-Jeong Jeong, Executive Vice President at Kia.

The Spielraum Studio concept targets entrepreneurs who travel often. It comes equipped with LG’s AI-powered appliances like modular clothing care systems, smart mirrors, and coffee machines. The built-in AI can check your work schedule, figure out how long until you reach your destination, and suggest the best settings for the appliances.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Spielraum Glow cabin concept includes refrigerators, ovens, and wine cellars to support leisure activities. These appliances feature special panels that can change colors based on what the user wants, creating different moods inside the vehicle.

The word “Spielraum,” which means “play space” in German, highlights how these vehicles offer flexible environments that adapt to different needs.
Both companies plan to bring these concept vehicles to market in the second half of 2026. They’re also working together on developing more advanced home appliances and AI solutions that can make everyday tasks easier.

This partnership combines Kia’s expertise in vehicle platforms with LG’s knowledge of AI and home appliances. The goal is to create personalized spaces where people can work or relax while on the move.

As remote work becomes more common and people seek new ways to enjoy outdoor activities, these multi-purpose vehicles could offer solutions that blend transportation with comfortable living and working spaces.
