A major recall affecting about 100,000 mattresses sold exclusively on Amazon has been announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The Crayan brand mattresses, sold between July 2022 and June 2024, fail to meet federal fire safety standards.

The recalled products include 10-inch and 12-inch memory foam mattresses in twin, full, queen, and king sizes. Prices ranged from $100 to $220. These mattresses came compressed in boxes and feature a white quilted top with gray side panels bearing the “Crayan” name.

According to the CPSC’s June 18 announcement, the mattresses pose a “deadly fire hazard” because they don’t meet open flame flammability requirements. While no fires or injuries have been reported yet, the agency warns these non-compliant mattresses could fuel existing fires, causing them to grow quickly.

The mattresses were manufactured in Japan and imported by a Chinese company, Foshanshi Liyue Jiaju Youxian Gongsi, doing business as Crayan Inc.

How to Check If Your Mattress Is Affected

You can identify recalled mattresses by:

  • Looking for a white knit quilted top
  • Checking for the “Crayan” name printed on the gray side panel
  • Finding a white label listing fiber content, size, and “WG/P Foundation”

The CPSC strongly recommends that consumers:

  1. Stop using the mattress immediately
  2. Write “RECALLED” in large letters on the mattress’s white top
  3. Take a photo of the marked mattress
  4. Email the photo to [email protected]
  5. Wait for confirmation before disposing of the mattress

Consumers will receive a full refund after Crayan confirms the mattress has been properly marked and disposed of.

For questions about the recall process, customers can contact Crayan at 779-605-4458 (Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Pacific time) or email [email protected].

The CPSC reminds consumers that selling or giving away recalled products is illegal. Those wanting to report safety issues with this or other products can visit saferproducts.gov.

Federal mattress flammability standards were established to give people more time to escape during fires, making compliance crucial for consumer safety.
