Toronto Police Crack Down at Ashbridges Bay Fireworks

Toronto is bringing in extra police this Victoria Day weekend at Ashbridges Bay. The 2022 celebration turned violent with shootings, a stabbing, and multiple officers injured.

Mounted units, ATVs, and bike patrols will cover Ashbridges Bay throughout the weekend. Fire Services, paramedics, and bylaw officers join the security operation Sunday through Monday.

"Our priority this weekend is to protect the public and ensure that this holiday long weekend can be fun and safe for everyone," says Toronto Police spokesperson Const. Ashley Visser.

When and where can you see the fireworks? The official display begins at 10 p.m. Monday at Ashbridges Bay, but expect significant road closures that will affect your travel plans.

Lake Shore Boulevard East will shut down from Leslie Street to Queen Street East. The TTC plans extra buses on Coxwell and Woodbine routes to help attendees.

Planning to bring your own fireworks? Think again. Personal fireworks and bonfires are prohibited with $600 fines for violations. Alcohol remains banned on the beach.
