Dr. Wangari Maathai – Africa’s First Nobel Laureate And The Mother  Of The Green Belt Movement

It is worth remembering that a similar thing happened when a tribal woman  became the first in Africa to get a Nobel Peace Prize in 2004.  It was Wangari Muta Maathai from Kenya who got this honor.  Wangari was born in a small village named Inithe in Nyerere Dist. of Kenya.
