Texas Reports First Local Dengue Case of 2024 Amid 22-Year High

Dengue is a viral infection and a mosquito-borne disease, its vector being Aedes aegypti species of the mosquito family.

So far 106 dengue cases have been reported in Texas with one death, and this record is highest since 2002.

Awareness around dengue has some basic precautions like avoiding mosquito bites by using certified repellant, avoiding water stagnation, maintaining hygiene, covering the body as much as possible and so on.

Experts suggest that early detection of dengue is very crucial, it usually takes around a fortnight for the disease to settle in and show symptoms, however if it is suspected treatment shouldn't be delayed.
