Metro-North Debuts Hand-Painted 1979 Design on Heritage Train

Metro-North adds seventh locomotive to its Heritage Series with a hand-painted 1979 MTA design instead of vinyl wrap.

Unlike previous six heritage locomotives, Metro-North employees painted No. 203 themselves at North White Plains Paint Shop.

The silver body with blue stripe recreates the "MTA Central" livery from 1979, originally used on Conrail locomotives.

The Heritage Series began in 2023 to mark Metro-North's 40th anniversary, with each locomotive honoring a different era.
