Honeymooners  are suing Hawaii tour company for $5 million after being abandoned in the  ocean

California couple is Hawaii tour company to court for $5 million  after being abandoned in the ocean during a snorkeling trip.

Sail Maui team members reportedly performed three headcounts, but  tourists later said people were not made to sit still for the roll  call.

The honeymooners eventually swam to shore, where they made "HELP"  and "SOS" signs in the sand, but still no boats came to  their rescue.

Later local residents found them stranded and offered them water.

The couple is seeking compensation for emotional and physical  distress.

Sail Maui has since brought in changes to its protocol, according to  the lawsuit.

A Coast  Guard investigation allegedly found Sail Maui overlooking a proper  headcount.
