Kipster, a Dutch egg farm, has developed a new method to produce carbon-neutral eggs that reduces the carbon footprint of egg production. Instead of the traditional methods of feeding chickens, which see them given human-grade corn, Kipster feeds them upcycled food such as oat hulls and rejected pasta products. The food surpluses or byproduct waste come from bakeries and manufacturers, and at least 85% of the chicken feed is made up of these.
