Originated from Strasbourg, France; Adrien studied entomology and he was inspired to create sculptures of insects out of leftover materials while studying entomology. Air Pollution More Dangerous For Females Compared Air Pollution More Dangerous For Females Compared To Males A new research that will be presented at the European Respiratory Society International Congress in Barcelona ( @europeanrespiratorysociety ), Spain regarding females facing severe health issues by breathing diesel exhaust fumes and the effects are more concerning than in males. The researchers looked for changes in people’s blood brought about by exposure to diesel exhaust. In both females and males, they found changes in components of the blood-related inflammation, infection and cardiovascular disease, but they found higher changes in the females compared to males. To accomplish this goal, they are putting efforts to clean up plastic waste that has already collected in the ocean and won't naturally disappear even with efforts to stop the sources of plastic pollution. A new report by Laurent Lebreton, Sarah-Jeanne Royer, Axel Peytavin, Wouter Jan Strietman, Ingeborg Smeding-Zuurendonk & Matthias Egger from Ocean cleanup and Wageningen University & Research, states that 75% of plastic in great pacific garbage patch originates Findings support Ocean Cleanup’s two-pronged strategy for accomplishing this goal: reducing riverine plastic pollution and eliminating ocean legacy waste. While the bulk of plastic that ends up in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) comes from marine-based activities, the other major source of plastic that ends up in the world's oceans comes from land-based sources. GPGP is an accumulation of plastic and other kinds of trash. Now it is a subject of study for the Ocean Cleanup to determine its composition, origins, and age. In a study conducted by research experts, only 5% of 788 respondents had reported past dugong sightings while there were 3 who reported sightings from within 5 years. There was a peak around 1960 and then a decline around 1975 onwards. There were no records documents after 2008 or any verified field observations after 2000. This idea is a far dream for more than 3.85 billion people all over the world. A new report by the Joint Monitoring Program has revealed that at least half of all the health facilities around the world lack access to these hygienic conditions. The most basic services such as water, soap or alcoholic sanitisers are lacking. This report was published by the WHO ( @WHO ) in conjunction with UNICEF ( @UNICEF ). They found that the lack of hygienic conditions puts the patients who use the facilities at risk for developing infections. Their report also talks about more than 688 million who receive their care where there are no services to cater to hygiene. Newton, Sara Oldfield along with Global Tree Assessment Contributors, presents a brief overview of current knowledge regarding the number of tree species that are threatened with extinction and the threats that affect them. The paper also explains the potential implications of tree extinctions, both in terms of the functioning of the biosphere and in terms of human well-being. This assessment is based on recent progress in assessing the extinction risks to tree species — the Global Tree Assessment (GTA), which for the first time enables us to provide a comprehensive overview of the current status of this important component of global biodiversity. The concept of a ‘World Scientists Warning to Humanity’ dates back to 1992, when more than 1700 scientists, including most living Nobel laureates, called on humankind to halt environmental destruction and make fundamental changes to the relationship between humans and the natural world, in order to avoid ‘vast human misery’. This call was renewed 25 years later, when more than 15,000 scientists signed a second warning, which highlighted the fact that most environmental trends had significantly worsened since 1992. Climate change in its current iteration includes global warming and its impacts on Earth's weather patterns. This change is caused mostly by the various emissions that come from the use of fossil fuels for energy production. Additional sources include certain agricultural practices, industrial processes, and forest loss. Even if efforts to reduce future warming are successful, some consequences will last for centuries. These include rising sea levels due to ice cap melting and warmer, acidic oceans. Most affected by the sea level rise will be less developed countries & island nations who have contributed the least towards global warming. To combat this, Project Arcstar has created large floating devices that work year-long to help combat climate change. The design is developed by Niklas Andreasena, an industrial design specialist at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences ( @fh_joanneum ). Large areas of the icy ocean can be covered with the help of their floes. These floes look like giant white, floating crystals. Their composite structure reflects sunlight like any other regular sea ice. Eight cheetahs will take off on a modified Boeing Eight cheetahs will take off on a modified Boeing 747 on the night of 16 September, 2022, from Namibia headed to Madhya Pradesh, which will be their new home-marking the return of a predator that went extinct in India 70 years ago. A look at how the reintroduction is being executed is worth noting here. The eight big cats have all been vaccinated, fitted with satellite collars, and are currently in isolation at Namibia’s Cheetah Conservation Foundation (CCF) Centre in Otjiwarongo, Namibia ( @ccfcheetah ). There are three male & five female cheetahs. Out of these there are two brothers with their mother. The aircraft B747- 400 passenger jet is modified to fit secured cages in the main cabin, but will also allow vets to have full access to the cats throughout the flight. The main part of the aircraft is painted to show the face of a cheetah. The flight is headed to Gwalior. Scientists Say Greenland’s Ice Sheet Will Inevit Scientists Say Greenland’s Ice Sheet Will Inevitably Melt In Spite Of Climate Control Measures A team of researchers led by Jason E. Box ( @jasonebox ) from the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, presented a complementary approach to study ice sheet disequilibrium and limitations regarding climate change. The approach furthered by understanding satellite-derived bare-ice extent, tidewater sector ice flow discharge, and surface mass balance data, published in journal Nature ( @nature_the_journal ). According to the recent data of 2020 Greenland’s ice imbalance created almost 274 ± 68 nm of sea-level rise which is equivalent to 3.3 ± 0.9% volume loss while in 2021 melting ice sheets were noted to cause 782 ± 135 mm of sea-level rise. The researchers said that the study is showing a disequilibrium in the ice sheet formation while in controlled condition snowfalls in the mountain region of Greenland would naturally replenish the ice sheet of glaciers. On this occasion it is worth mentioning that this main organ of the UN passed a historic resolution on 21 July, 2022, declaring access to a clean and healthy environment a universal human right. With 161 votes in favour & 8 abstentions, the UN General Assembly (U N G A ) adopted the historic resolution with none against it. The resolution, based on a similar text adopted last year in the Human Rights Council, calls upon all States, International Organisations and Business Enterprises to scale up efforts to ensure a healthy environment for all.
