Qantas Shuts Jetstar Asia: A$35M Loss, 200% Cost Surge Forces 500 Job Cuts by July 31
Qantas announced today that its Singapore-based budget airline Jetstar Asia will shut down on July 31, 2025, ending more than 20 years of operation. The airline has been losing money for years, with costs jumping up to 200% and fierce competition from other budget carriers making it hard to stay afloat. Jetstar Asia made a profit in only six of its 20 years and is expected to lose A$35 million this financial year.
