Health Is Wealth – International Health Day

International Health Day is being celebrated on 07April,2022. It is said that our body is indeed an
instrument for performing our duty : Shareermadyam Khalu Dharmasadhanam.

Dr Soumya Somanathan, Chief Scientist, WHO, says that in the Covid pandemic period , it is
necessary to maintain one’s health following the rules of corona. Proper food , enough rest and exercise are three ingredients of good health.

According to Ayurveda, food should be “Mit Bhuk” i.e. beneficial to the eater, “Mit Bhuk” that is enough for the consumer & “Rut Bhuk” meaning it should have been acquired by fair means .
One should have enough rest after a day’s work. Exercise can be in the form of Yogic Asanas or
suitable games or sports.

The whole life is a continuous Yoga as we pass through our childhood youth & old age with
equanimity. One should have proper food, entertainment, physical activities and sleep. Such a person
becomes happy : Yuktaharviharasya Yuktacheshtasya Karmasu, Yuktaswapnavbodhasya Yogi
Bharati Dukhaha. (Sanskrit)

Contentment is a person’s treasure: Santosha Eva Purushasya Param Nidhanam.
Such a person can also be a postive person. The famous Marathi writer Bhalchandra Nemade
says that our hand should have a thousand fingers to count good persons: Changli Manage
Mojanyasathi, Hat Ala Hajar Bore Asot.

We can pray for a happy, healthy & auspicious world to realise the goal of truth ,goodness &
beauty i.e. Satyam,Shivam & Sundaram: Sarvepalli Sukhinah Santu, Sarve Sanju Niramah, Sarve
Bhadrani Pashyantu, Ma Kaschit Dukhamapnuyat!
