Hoverflies are flies belonging to the Syrphidae group, they hover rapidly beating wings. That is why they are called hoverflies. These Hoverflies are now threatened with extinction. According to the first continent-wise assessment of this essential pollinator group by the IUCN(International Union for Conservation of Nature), 37% of all Hoverflies species in Europe are threatened with extinction.
