After flying from the nest, Sunny didn't go far - camera operators spotted her perched in her parents' favorite roost tree, still practicing her wing movements.

Meanwhile, sister Gizmo watched the whole dramatic departure with "complete fascination" - but when will she follow her sister's bold move?

Both eaglets are female and hatched in early March alongside a third sibling named Misty, who sadly didn't survive a severe winter storm.

What happens next? Experts say Sunny will stay nearby for 1-3 months while Jackie and Shadow continue to feed her and teach crucial survival skills.

Sunny may return to the nest periodically - a common behavior for fledglings - before she and Gizmo eventually strike out on their own by fall.
